In June 2018, I was lucky for an opportunity to participate in a workshop with Susan Brandeis on expressive stitching. Its been just over a year since the workshop and I’ve been reminded of the many things I learned. One BIG idea is that the stitch is a mark, and doesn’tt have to be planned, premeditated, or by all means exactly like the last stitch! A second is that one of the participants reminded me of the ‘Bird by Bird’ approach to progress: one small task at a time.

Susan’s new book The Intentional Thread has just been released and its one I need in my library to complement Jan Beaney’s classic.
